Remove Username From The Windows XP Start Menu

If you hate to see your Username in the Windows XP Startmenu (like shown below) and want to remove it, this small registry hack may helps you to do this in 1… 2… 3… steps.

Note : The Username appears only in the XP Style Startmenu and not in the Classic startmenu. ( Usually the classic startmenu have only Windows XP in the side of the menu. )

Now Hack the Registry to Remove the Username from Windows XP Startmenu :

  1. As usual open the Registry editor by Start > Run > Type ” regedit ” (without quotes) and Hit Enter key.
  2. Now navigate to this key on the left pane ” HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
  3. In the right pane, Create a new DWORD value with the following values :
  • Name : NoUserNameInStartMenu
  • Value : 1

Now Log Off and Re-Login to see your Username removed from the XP Style Startmenu.

If you again want your username to appear on the Windows XP Startmenu, just change the value of key to ‘ 0 ‘, again Log Off and Re-Login into Windows XP to see the change.
