Hide Manage Option From The My Computer Right Click Menu

In Windows XP if you right click on the My Computer icon a menu item called Manage will be found. Using that anyone could modify your computer Hardware and Software settings. So to avoid this issue and to secure your computer from unauthorized access to this console you could Hide the Manage option from that menu.

To do so,

  1. Click Start > Run, type ‘ regedit ‘ and hit Enter.
  2. Then go to the following registry keys : ‘ HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Policies/Explore ‘ on the left window.
  3. On the right window, create a DWORD value called ‘ NoManageMyComputerVerb ‘. Double click the DWORD and set the value to ‘ 1 ‘.
  4. Reboot the computer and check, now you will find the Manage option removed from the My Computer menu !
